Valle Cay offers a beautiful and unique community—the gateway to Valle Crucis. Valle Cay was established in 1987 as a private, gated, residential community designed to protect and enhance its natural mountain beauty. Interestingly, the natural elements of the Blue Ridge Parkway inspired the design of Valle Cay and those elements can be seen throughout our community in the use of the land; the preserved trees, foliage, rocks and other natural elements; in our signage; and building designs and materials to name a few. In addition to its beauty and tranquility, Valle Cay offers hiking trails, lakes for fishing and canoeing, wildlife, and a covered picnic area at Lake Victoria for socializing.
The Valle Cay Property Owners Association (POA) was incorporated in May 1996 as a non-profit corporation, and in 2002 the POA voted to adopt and operate under the North Carolina Planned Community Act. The POA is governed by a five-member volunteer Board of Directors elected by all property owners. Currently there are seventy-nine property owners and over fifty residences in Valle Cay. Care and maintenance of the community is the responsibility of twelve volunteer committees that either do the work themselves or oversee the work of contractors. Residents are invited and encouraged to take an active role in the Association’s board and committees.
